Intro to Audio Production is a 15-week overview of the most fundamental sound recording concepts, techniques, and technology. The course will provide students with a basic understanding of the physics of sound, the equipment that is necessary to capture it, and the processes and tools used to manipulate the recorded sounds and mold them into a finished product.

We will discuss microphone choices, various types of recording devices, software, sound-processing, and workflow in a variety of recording situations. Classes will be held at the Terra Sounds recording studio, so students will have plenty of opportunities to hone their sound engineering & production skills with hands-on recording assignments. Throughout the course, we will touch on essential subjects like music theory, arrangement, and composition. Assignments will include two or more individual audio production projects and a final group project.
